About Update

The Rational God has moved server and site. No longer is there TheRationalGod.com and TheRationalGod.wordpress.com, instead the website will now all be at TheRationalGod.com… here.

When beginning the website in 2007 the plan was for this site to act as a pre-publication publicity zone and generate interest for the book. This has worked to some degree but it became apparent that a website covering such a broad range of topics would suffer in the online world of search engines. In discussing matters of existence and the universe generally there have always been two main strands of investigation. There is the scientific rote and the religious route.

The Rational God is written from a purely scientific, or at least philosophical perspective, but on reading it you will discover that there is a strong streak of material which can easily be related to traditional and somethimes less traditional theological thought. When I first began writing the blog I went straight into the atheist/theist debate as it seemed to be a popular online subject area. The book however disccusses atheism and theism only very briefly. The book is in fact scientific and philosophical.

I felt this was somewhat unsatisfactory in one blog. Writing about matters which are essentially religious one minute and then switching to discuss physics or mathematics the next didn’t sit well with me. Worse was the fact that the search engines could not decide what kind of blog it was. Is it science? Is it religion? The subject area I want to discuss is the nature of existence, or theuniverse as a whole and it could be both so to resolve my own discomfort and to better make use of the search engines there will now be two blogs. This one and SpaceTimeInfinity.com

TheRationalGod.com I will use to carry in the same manner with which I began – to speak about religion and eligious concepts. I will also be looking more into historical developments in religion and the evolution of religious ideas and organisations.

SpaceTimeInfinity.com I shall use to write about matters which are more scientific or philosophical and which are better representative of the content in the book. The search engines will now be much happer and so will I. The two websites will however still be talking about one thing which they have in common; that is the nature of existence and how we can understand that existence.
